Lightning Fibre supports Hailsham Town Council Railway Club
Rob Reaks, Chief Commercial Officer at Lightning Fibre, presented a cheque for £250 to Railway Club founders Anne Blake-Coggins and Cllr Anne Marie Ricketts (Hailsham's Deputy Mayor) at the Station Youth Centre, Hailsham on 7th May to coincide with the Railway Club's VE80 celebrations.
Lightning Fibre also provide free broadband to the centre, with lightning-fast, rock solid connectivity.
Club sessions take place on the lower floor of the Station Youth Centre in Western Road every Wednesday. The club is open to anyone aged 55 or over who are struggling to stay warm at home, or who are experiencing social isolation and would like to chat with others and meet new friends.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available, and people are encouraged to bring board games, books, jigsaw puzzles and other activities with them. The club is inclusive, disabled-person friendly and accessible to wheelchair users and mobility scooters.
Entry and refreshments are free, and the club relies on donations and the support of local usinesses, like Lightning FIbre based in Polegate.
Organisers are looking for enthusiastic people to fill volunteer roles, who will be available for some (or all) of the three-hour weekly sessions taking place on Wednesday. Duties include welcoming guests, chatting to visitors, serving refreshments, helping with any clearing away/washing up and organising various games and activities.
Anyone interested in volunteering their time to help operate the club sessions should email cllr.annemarie.ricketts@hailsham-tc.gov.uk.
