Lightning Fibre Proudly Supports the Silver Band Remembrance Concert
This November, the sounds of brass, unity, and remembrance will once again fill the air in Eastbourne. The much-loved Silver Band Remembrance Concert returns for its 14th year on Sunday 2nd November, taking place at Our Lady of Ransom Church on Grange Road from 2.30pm to 4.00pm.
Organised by the talented Eastbourne Silver Band, this annual concert is a part of the town’s cultural and community calendar. Admission is completely free, and everyone is welcome - though with an expected audience of 350–400 people, it’s worth arriving early to grab a good seat. There will also be some standing space available.
This year, Lightning Fibre is proud to announce that we are providing some sponsorship to support the administrative costs of putting on the concert.
A Musical Tradition
Founded back in 1950, the Eastbourne Silver Band is a cornerstone of the town’s musical heritage. You’ll often find them performing at fetes, town celebrations, church concerts and their beloved home - the iconic Eastbourne Bandstand.
We recently caught up with Keith and Mark from the band, two of the dedicated tuba players who form part of the bass section. Keith has been with the band for an incredible 25 years and has organised the Remembrance Concert for the last 14 years.
Both men spoke passionately about the importance of the concert, which raises funds to support Eastbourne District Veterans and Brass Band UK’s humanitarian work in Ukraine.
“It’s about remembering those who’ve served, while also doing something positive for people who need our help today,” Keith explained. And if you’ve ever wondered - yes, those tubas really do weigh around 18 kilograms, so the bass section’s tradition of playing seated is very well-earned!

United in Remembrance
This year’s concert will be attended by the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex, the Mayor of Eastbourne, the Member of Parliament for Eastbourne, along with civic dignitaries and members of the emergency services. Their presence underlines the respect our community holds for this occasion and its message of remembrance.
Donations made on the day will go directly toward supporting veterans locally and humanitarian causes abroad. It’s a wonderful opportunity to enjoy an afternoon of stirring live music, while also helping two worthwhile causes.
