Smokescreen Visuals have produced a new TV advert for Lightning Fibre which will appear on YouTube and across programmatic marketing campaigns from August before a linear TV (ITV, C4, C5), VOD (video on demand), and CTV (connected TV) campaign from September, supported by Adsmart from Sky and Meerkat.
We decided early on that we would use aspherical primes, rather than anamorphic. We eventually settled on the Zeiss Supreme primes. We wanted something modern that would render skin tone beautifully and keep the contrast, with a sharp but pleasing image and nice fall-off. We paired these with the proven Arri Alexa 35 to get the best results straight out of camera, without needing too much manipulation in post.
The lighting needed to feel real, with some subtle control and fall-off but without being too contrasty. This was important to keep with the light-hearted and comedic script and performances.
