Lightning Fibre Supports Langney Community Library’s Reading Celebration Week During Eastbourne LitFest
Lightning Fibre is pleased to be supporting Langney Community Library as a sponsor of its Reading Celebration Week, taking place from 26 September to 3 October 2026 at the library in Langney Shopping Centre, Eastbourne.
The week is part of the National Year of Reading 2026 and is being held in partnership with Eastbourne LitFest. The week will feature free family events, storytelling, local authors, poetry, competitions and creative activities.
The library is taking part in the festival and will host its own programme of free family events during Reading Celebration Week.
We recently popped into the library to meet some of the volunteers, members and people involved in the week, and it was great to hear more about what's planned.
Stories, creativity and plenty to get involved with
The week has a great mix of events planned, with local authors, poets and storytellers helping children discover the enjoyment of reading and get creative.
One of the people we met was local children's author Nicola Baldwin, who will be hosting free storytelling sessions during the week, with places available to reserve.
Nicola is the author of What Are You Looking At?, and her interactive sessions will encourage children to share ideas, use their imagination and build confidence, with plenty of chances to get involved and help shape the story.
We also met local poet and creative writer Laurie Wilkinson, who will be at the library on Wednesday 30 September with his two stuffed friends, Ted and Beth. His session will bring fun poetry and creative writing, with plenty of opportunities for children to join in.

Eastbourne LitFest
Reading Celebration Week also forms part of the wider Eastbourne LitFest, a new annual celebration of books, stories, creativity and ideas taking place across the town from 25 - 27 September 2026.
With so much happening around books, creativity and the arts in Eastbourne this September, we're also supporting Printers Playhouse as they bring their production of A Midsummer Night's Dream to the Eastbourne Bandstand on Wednesday 23 and Thursday 24 September at 7:30pm. Lightning Fibre is the main sponsor of the two Bandstand performances as part of the run-in to Eastbourne LitFest.
