Connecting the Future: Lightning Fibre Powers Eastbourne DigiFest 2025
On Wednesday 15th October, the Kings Centre in Eastbourne hosted another successful Eastbourne DigiFest, bringing together expert speakers from across the UK, local businesses, education providers and community groups for a day dedicated to digital innovation.
As a lead sponsor, Lightning Fibre was proud to support the event once again, reinforcing our commitment to helping Eastbourne and the wider East Sussex community thrive in an increasingly digital world.
Innovation in Action
Visitors enjoyed a great variety of speakers on AI, Digital Marketing, Cyber Security, Inclusive Design, Podcasting, Software Development and more.
The exhibition hall was busy throughout the day, with a wide range of exhibitors. From immersive VR experiences, IT providers and other local businesses, to East Sussex College and Bexhill 6th Form College, there was a strong mix of local organisations demonstrating how technology is shaping learning, business and community life within the county.
Tech Agenda
There was a great choice of speakers and workshops throughout the day.
As part of our sponsorship, Lightning Fibre hosted our own room featuring a series of talks centred on technology, connectivity and artificial intelligence.
Glenn Chilcott delivered a thought-provoking session exploring the evolution of AI, the potential of AI bias, and the relationship between technological progress and financial markets.
Paul Hetherington from Vistage UK, Offshore Solar Ltd and HIS Ltd, delivered his Six Rules for Leadership in the Age of AI to a packed room.
Heidi Carroll and Casey Mae Reed from MEERKATworks presented a masterclass session on hyper-targeted programmatic digital marketing.
And on the main stage, Rob Reaks, our CCO, joined Kai Zammit from Smokescreen Visuals, to add a real life case study to Kai's presentation about the power and accessibility of TV advertising for SMEs. Their session explored how local and regional businesses can take advantage of audience targeting, geo-location tools and cost-effective marketing strategies to reach new customers.
Videos of all sessions will be available to attendees on catch up - look out for an email from the organisers soon.

Ideas That Connect
Our team was delighted to meet so many attendees throughout the day. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our stand to talk about broadband connectivity, digital infrastructure and the future of full fibre in Eastbourne and the surrounding area. Businesses can now benefit from speeds of up to 10Gbps.
Reflecting on the event, Rob Reaks, commented:
“We’re proud to have sponsored Eastbourne DigiFest for the third consecutive year. Each year the event grows in scale and ambition, reflecting the strength of Eastbourne’s digital community. It’s encouraging to see so many organisations, educators and innovators coming together to explore the opportunities that technology brings.”

Supporting a Connected Future
Sponsoring DigiFest is part of Lightning Fibre’s ongoing commitment to investing in the towns and communities where we build our full fibre broadband network.
Congratulations to the Digifest organisers - Switchplane and Chalk Eastbourne - for delivering another successful event.
