Turning Up the Volume on Local Talent
We’re absolutely delighted to share that Lightning Fibre is a sponsor of Eastbourne Youth Radio (EYR) for their annual 2025 broadcast week, taking place from 18th to 21st November.
This is the 25th year that Eastbourne Youth Radio will bring voices from across the community to listeners on 87.7 FM and online via www.eyr.org.uk.
Organised by the Eastbourne Education Business Partnership(EEBP) and hosted in studios at East Sussex College in Eastbourne, EYR gives students aged 5 to 19 the chance to research, produce and present radio programming across a wide span of topics.
Over the week, there’ll also be contributions from local organisations, charities and alumni returning to share their journeys. Among the themes this year, EYR is shining a spotlight on Anti-Bullying Week, and conversations around mental health and wellbeing.
Supporting the Next Generation of Broadcasters and Musicians
This is our first time sponsoring Eastbourne Youth Radio, and we couldn’t be more excited to get involved.
As a locally based full fibre broadband provider, supporting a youth-led media event fits with what we do: improving local connectivity, backing young talent, and helping strengthen community opportunities across East Sussex.
We’re partnering with St Bede’s School and their Director of Music Robert Scamardella during the broadcast week. Our slot takes place on Wednesday, 20th November, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, when students from St Bede’s School will be chatting with Emma Pearce, our Head of Marketing.
The hour will also feature live performances from some of Bede’s talented young musicians, showcasing crowd favourites, timeless tunes, and even a brand-new original piece written by one of their students.
