Lightning Fibre Proudly Sponsors the 2025 Hastings Half Marathon

We’re off and running with some great news – Lightning Fibre is sponsoring the 2025 Hastings Half Marathon. This much-loved community event is back on the calendar after being postponed earlier in the year.

It is taking place on Sunday 5th October 2025.

Limbering Up for Hastings

It’s our first year supporting the Hastings Half Marathon, and we’re delighted to be part of it. Many of our team live locally, and supporting community events has always been important to us.

The Hastings Half Marathon is organised by the Hastings Lions Club CIO, who have worked tirelessly for decades to keep this event thriving. Last year marked its 40th anniversary, and it remains one of the most popular and respected half marathons in the UK.

Known for its challenging course and brilliant community atmosphere, the event has become a highlight of the town’s bustling calendar.

Our Chief Commercial Officer, Rob Reaks, says:

“It’s wonderful to support such a popular local event. The resilience shown by organisers and runners embodies exactly what Lightning Fibre stands for—community spirit, connection, and going the extra mile.”

Over recent months, we’ve sponsored the Hastings Comedy Festival and the famous Hastings Pirate Festival in July. We’re also continuing our support of Hastings United during the 25/26 season, sponsoring home-town captain Brad Barry.

Key details for race day:

  • Entries: Open now, with previous bookings from March carried over. You can sign up via the event website, either as a solo runner or as part of a team.
  • Location: The Start/Finish line is located at Grosvenor Gardens, Sea Road, Grosvenor Crescent, St Leonards-on-Sea TN38 0BX, with Race HQ at the Bowls Lawn in West Marina Gardens.
  • Timings: On-the-day registration opens at 8am for sign-ups or number collection. Expect music, a lively group warm-up, and the race starting at 10:30am.
  • The Route: A challenging but rewarding course, with a hilly first half and a downhill stretch towards the seaside finish.
  • The Prize: Every finisher receives a bespoke horse-brass medal. This year’s design is inspired by the iconic Hastings cricket statue, celebrating the “Spirit of Cricket.” If you’re really fast, there’s even prize money for the worthy winners. Breaking the course record can net you £1000!

Josh’s Race Day tips!

Josh is a member of the Lightning Fibre marketing team, that has been a runner at this event in Hastings. He recommends:

·      Eating a carbohydrate-heavy meal two days before and keep yourself fuelled up going into race day.

·      No new shoes, you don’t want to change much on race day from your training runs.

·      Stay hydrated! Make use of water stations around the course and carry a steady pace - less speed now can mean more speed later.

More than just a race

Alongside the main half marathon, there’s the Claremont Mini Run for younger runners, plus plenty of entertainment along the route.

The race is famous for its fantastic support in all weathers, with drummers, refreshments, and enthusiastic crowds cheering runners throughout the 13.1-mile course.
