Boosting the Blooming Marvellous Team at Environment Hailsham
Lightning Fibre has donated £250 to Environment Hailsham, the independent volunteer group dedicated to growing, planting and maintaining around 12,000 locally sourced flowers and shrubs annually across the town.
Environment Hailsham has been supplying vibrant displays tocherished spots, including the War Memorial and Diamond Jubilee Gardens, since2014.
If you’ve spent time in the town, you’ll have noticed thefantastic hanging baskets and railing planters giving so many pockets ofHailsham colourful personality.
The volunteers do a grand job of watering the plants from 7amevery Wednesday, taking them all across town for about 3.5 hours!
David Harris – Chairman of the Board of Trustees and the Management Committee – designs the signature winter and summer displays using an interesting blend of plants to make eye catching arrangements.
The team also have a clever strategy with a double layer of planting – ensuring there are bulbs ready to create a sea of yellow in the Spring.
The Environment Hailsham nursery is open for volunteers and visitors on Tuesdays and Fridays from 10am–12 noon, and they also raise funds by selling plants at Hailsham Town Market in June and September.
If you would like to find out about becoming a volunteer, email David or pop in and say hello at Grovelands Barn, Grovelands Road (near the school entrance).

Rob Reaks from Lightning Fibre met with David and a number of volunteers to present a £250 donation to this fantastic group.
They were joined by former Mayor and current Councillor, Paul Holbrook, who has championed the cause for many years, providing support wherever he could.
Rob Reaks, Chief Commercial Officer of Lightning Fibre, reflected:
“We value being an active part of the communities where we provide broadband to both homes and businesses – and this dedicated group of volunteers really deserve our support for creating a beautiful and colourful environment for everyone to enjoy.”
This contribution builds on Lightning Fibre’s wider community engagement. The company is a proud member of Hailsham Chamber of Commerce and an active supporter of local events.
Lightning Fibre sponsored the Hailsham Run earlier this summer, have an ongoing relationship with Hailsham Active and is the headline sponsor for the Hailsham Festival of Arts & Culture coming up in September.
