999 Weekend – What a Weekend on Eastbourne’s Western Lawns
We had an absolutely brilliant time at the 999 Display Weekend in Eastbourne on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th July 2025 – and what a weekend it was! 🌞
Now in its 38th consecutive year, this completely free-to-attend event brought the community together to celebrate the incredible work of our emergency and uniformed services.
Organised by Sussex Police, East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service, South East Coast Ambulance Service, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, and the RNLI, and supported by Eastbourne Borough Council and Visit Eastbourne, the event was once again a standout moment in the town’s calendar.
With wall-to-wall sunshine and a buzzing atmosphere, the weekend was packed with amazing live demonstrations, interactive displays, and the chance to get up close to emergency vehicles – both vintage and modern. It was a fantastic opportunity to meet the people who keep Eastbourne safe, including frontline teams and dedicated volunteers from:
- Sussex Police
- East Sussex Fire & Rescue
- RNLI Eastbourne
- Eastbourne Coastguard
- South East Coast Ambulance Service
From talking with coastguard crews to exploring specialist equipment and watching action-packed demos, it was a fantastic showcase of the skill, commitment, and teamwork that keeps our community protected.
The event also marked Sea Sunday on 13th July with a special display from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency. As our Head of Marketing, Emma Pearce, said, “Sea Sunday is a special opportunity to reflect and take action for the brave men and women who work at sea to ensure we have everything we need.
Of course, the Lightning Fibre team was out in force! Our stand was packed with interactive games, giveaways, and great conversations with residents and visitors. Community team legend Deano even tried on some riot gear and handed out some fantastic prizes – including free fibre broadband for lucky winners."
