This year Lightning Fibre will be supporting one the greatest countryside events in the South East, The Heathfield Agricultural Show. The Show has been chosen to launch the ‘Queen's Jubilee Green Canopy’ initiative in East Sussex to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II's platinum jubilee - 70 years on the throne.

Plant a Tree for the Jubilee is a national event and we will be celebrating by planting a tree on the Showground on Show day. With a focus on planting sustainably, the Queen's Jubilee Green Canopy will encourage planting of trees to create a legacy in honour of The Queen’s leadership of the Nation, which will benefit future generations.

But what is the ‘Queen’s Green Canopy’ all about?

“Plant a tree for the Jubilee” in a unique tree planting initiative that will mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in2022. The QGC (Queen’s Green Canopy) is expected to be participated in across the United Kingdom.

The official planting season with commence again in October this year, through to the end of 2022. During this time people across the country in villages, cities, counties, schools and corporations, will be encouraged to plant trees as way to help our environment.

Sustainability is integral to the ideals of the QGC and it is hoped that the planting of trees will create a legacy in honour of the Queen and her leadership of the nation over the years. This legacy is intended to be carried on by future generations for the benefit of all.

The Queen’s Canopy is also going to dedicate a network of 70 Ancient Woodlands across the United Kingdom. Each to represent a year of the Queen’s service to the country. These woodlands will become safe havens for the growth of ancient trees, plants, their offspring and the wildlife that they protect.

The Queen’s Green Canopy is a not-for-profit initiative that aims to raise funds that will go towards planting trees and creating green spaces in deprived urban areas and schools across the UK.
