Company overview and job purpose:

Lightning Fibre is a fresh (established 2018) company and is in a period of rapid growth. This is set to continue for the foreseeable future. Lightning Fibre is the leading local alternative network provider of Full Fibre broadband in East Sussex. We are headquartered in Eastbourne and have an existing broadband network in East Sussex. Our broadband network can supply our standard installed customers with anything up to 10 Gigabits in both download and uploads.

We are a community orientated network operator, whose aim is to significantly upgrade our regions’ broadband infrastructure, providing local jobs, keeping local £’s in the areas we serve. We are a vital enabler to grow our digital local economy, thereby creating further quality jobs. Lightning Fibre has bold plans for growth and development.

This role is to undertake the MDU and B2B installations in a professional, personable and timely manner.

At least one year's experience of fibre installation is essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Full Fibre installations from 1st fix cabling to the 2nd fix installation of LFL equipment on premise
  • Complete any temporary fire stopping during end of day site shutdown
  • Fibre blowing & splicing
  • Working at heights (Poles, lifts, ladders and rooftops)
  • Positive representation of LF to the public and build rapport with customers whilst onsite
  • Provide 3rd party contractor installation progress/whereabouts and updates to the MDU Coordinator
  • Diagnose Fibre faults during network testing
  • Health & Safety compliance
  • Undertake B2B installations as part of an engineering pair.

Key skills and competencies:

  • Essential: external site survey experience; NRSWA, Unit 2 Street Works Signing, Lighting & Guarding accreditation
  • Some civils work experience for building footways and spot digs would be an advantage
  • Passive fire safety knowledge or other building H&S experience
  • A team player, highly organised, confident, and good communicator
  • Attention to detail and accuracy coupled with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • A dynamic mindset, dexterity in areas where help is needed
  • Right first time accuracy with all aspects of work
  • Essential: full clean UK driving licence.

Job Types: Full-time, 6-month fixed term contract with a view to becoming permanent

Salary: Up to £32,130.00 (fully competent) per year
