Cabling Engineer

Lightning Fibre is recruiting a Cabling Engineer (Telecoms) to join the team in Eastbourne on a 6-month fixed-term contract. This role reports to the Cabling Manager.

Lightning Fibre is the leading local alternative network provider of Full Fibre broadband in East Sussex. We are headquartered in Eastbourne and have an existing broadband network in East Sussex. Our broadband network can supply our standard installed customers with anything up to 10 Gigabits in both download and uploads.

We are a community orientated network operator, whose aim is to significantly upgrade our region's broadband infrastructure, providing local jobs, keeping local £’s in the areas we serve. We are a vital enabler to grow our digital local economy, thereby creating further quality jobs. Lightning Fibre has bold plans for growth and development.

As a cabling Engineer you will be part of a team delivering a full fibre network through BT PIA structures and our own built network. In this role you will be responsible for the completion of A55’s and will be PIA accredited and working in confined spaces. You should have GIS tool experience and ideally experience of fibre blowing in addition to TRR experience.

At least one year's on site experience of fibre cabling is essential.

The role primary purpose:

  • You’ll undertake Lightning Fibre’s PIA deployment including validation and completing of A55’s.
  • You will be a fully-skilled cabling engineer.

Key task and responsibilities:

  • Rod & roping
  • Pulling subduct
  • Fibre blowing (training can be provided)
  • Locating and evidencing blockages
  • Completing A55 forms
  • Working with the wider delivery team, facilitate Lightning Fibre’s PIA process which includes but is not limited to; NOIs, reporting and network adjustments
  • Health & Safety compliance.

Requirements:

  • Experienced working within the Openreach network (PIA accredited) including confined spaces
  • Essential: external site survey experience; NRSWA, Unit 2 Street Works Signing, Lighting & Guarding accreditation
  • Knowledge of the Openreach PIA product
  • A team player, highly organised, confident and good communicator
  • Detail conscious and highly accurate, coupled with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Essential: full, clean UK driving licence.

Desirable:

  • Experience of GIS Tools.
  • Experience of fibre blowing.
  • Ipaf type 1b.
